Festival des Jardins de la Côte d’Azur 2017
The garden 'Mounta Cala' has two sources of inspiration. The first is the sea, a primordial element of our region. And the second is located in the port of Nice, the Pointus, which are traditional fishing boats of the region.
The wooden path that crosses the garden recalls the construction of these emblematic boats. Moreover, the different lateral slopes of the road awaken the sense of equilibrium of human beings, one of the important senses when practicing sailing.
The sails positioned in the garden are a reminder to the Latin sails of the Pointus. The colour Blue Azure was chosen to recall the blue chairs of the Promenade des Anglais.
The mounds of pudding, a natural mulch of the region, form waves recalling the movement of the sea. The alternations of grasses, perennials and bushes accentuate the effect of waves sought by the mounds. Mirrors of water create a reminder to the sea and reflections of the sky, the sun and the sails.
Through the wooden walkway, visitors can reach a meeting place. It is composed of rounded wooden benches reminiscent of the Cimiez arena. It is a place to meet which can be used for pedagogical purpose, rest or discovery.
During this walk of balance on the wooden path in the middle of the waves of pudding, the public is engulfed by the scents of perfume Glaucum and Eryngium, it discovers edible plants, little known, such as Crithium and Atriplex.
With the magical light effects of JPW, the garden, night and day, invites visitors to explore it.
The garden is realized with the support of JPW Group, the Pépinières de Gaudissart, Matthew Stead - Riviera Carpenters.
