Planting and Mulching

By planting small and in the autumn it is possible to eliminate the need for watering. Plant choice is very important, if a plant is sick or not working rather than treat it with chemicals, replace it with a plant that will thrive. We tend to use an evergreen shrub layer to cover the grounds surface and prevent weed growth, with perennials, bulbs and deciduous species rising through to give year round colour and interest.

Once the plants are in the ground we use a natural mulch either gravel (garrigue, maquis or steppe areas) or composted bark (woodland areas) depending on the location and feel of the garden.
